  • As a wedding photographer, my style is a blend of authentic storytelling and vibrant cultural elements, especially since I focus on Indian weddings. I strive to capture the real, intimate moments between couples and their families while highlighting the richness of tradition and the emotions of the day. For me, it’s all about telling a story—whether that’s the excitement and energy of a baraat, the tenderness of a first look, or the elegance of a mehendi ceremony.

I love to focus on natural interactions, so I tend to lean towards candid shots that really showcase the connection between the couple and their loved ones. While I’m all for the grandeur and beauty of the event, I also love to get those raw, real moments that reflect the genuine joy and emotion of the day.

In terms of my editing style, I’m drawn to vivid colors that reflect the vibrancy of Indian weddings, but I also aim for a timeless, warm, and elegant look. I want the images to feel both vibrant and classic—capturing the true essence of the couple’s special day.

Since I’m based in Baltimore, I also enjoy incorporating the local environment, blending cultural details with the stunning architecture and natural beauty of the area to make each wedding uniquely personal!

  • Indian weddings are a vibrant celebration of love, family, and tradition, and as a wedding photographer, my role is to capture the magic of these moments forever. From the intricate henna designs to the grand baraat, every detail tells a story, and being behind the lens means I get to preserve these memories. Here’s a behind-the-scenes look at what a typical day in my life as an Indian wedding photographer looks like.

    1. Early Start: Preparing for the Day

The day often begins before sunrise, especially if I’m covering the bride’s and groom’s preparation. I double-check my gear:

Cameras and lenses are cleaned and ready. Extra batteries, memory cards, and backup equipment are packed.

A detailed timeline of the day’s events, shared by the couple or planner, ensures I know where I need to be and when.

Indian weddings are packed with rituals, so being organized is key. I review my notes to ensure I capture every significant moment, from the bride’s first look in her lehenga to the emotional vidaai.

    2. Capturing the Morning Rituals

The morning is dedicated to the bride and groom getting ready. I focus on candid shots of:

    • The bride’s makeup and hair styling.

    • The groom’s preparations, often including tying his turban or adjusting his sherwani.

    • Details like jewelry, shoes, and wedding attire.

I love creating a serene environment for the couple during this time, so they feel relaxed and natural in front of the camera.

    3. Pre-Ceremony Festivities

The energy truly kicks off with the baraat, the groom’s procession. I weave through the crowd, capturing:

    • The groom’s entrance on a horse (or sometimes a luxury car or elephant!).

    • Family and friends dancing joyfully to dhol beats.

    • Vibrant colors and infectious energy that define this celebration.

Simultaneously, my second shooter often focuses on the bride’s side, documenting her family’s preparations and the welcoming ceremony for the groom.

    4. The Wedding Ceremony

The ceremony is the heart of the day, full of emotion and tradition. From the exchange of garlands (jaimala) to the saat phere around the sacred fire, I ensure I’m in the right place to capture key moments. My goal is to document:

    • Emotional exchanges between family members.

    • The priest’s guidance through rituals.

    • Intimate glances between the bride and groom.

Discretion is crucial here—I move quietly and avoid interrupting sacred moments.

    5. Post-Ceremony Portraits

After the ceremony, I guide the couple and their families through formal portraits. This is a time to capture:

    • The couple in stunning, posed shots.

    • Family group photos.

    • Fun and candid moments with the bridal party.

These photos often become cherished keepsakes for years to come.

    6. The Reception: Party Time!

Indian wedding receptions are grand and lively, and my role is to document:

    • The couple’s dramatic entrance.

    • First dances, speeches, and performances.

    • Guests enjoying themselves on the dance floor.

I love capturing the raw energy of the reception, from heartfelt moments to wild dance moves.

    7. Late-Night Wrap-Up

As the day winds down, I take a few final shots, such as the vidaai (farewell) or couple’s exit. Then, it’s time to back up all the photos—multiple copies to ensure nothing is lost.

Why I Love What I Do

Being an Indian wedding photographer isn’t just about taking pictures; it’s about preserving love stories. The joy, colors, and traditions of these weddings are unmatched, and it’s an honor to be a part of such meaningful celebrations.

If you’re planning your big day and want your memories beautifully captured, I’d love to help. Let’s connect and make magic together!
